FXX just wrapped up their 12 day long marathon of every single episode of The Simpsons ever, and the result was ratings way higher than they expected.

According to The New York Times, ratings for the marathon were about three times higher than FXX executives were anticipating. For three nights of the 12-day marathon, the channel was the highest rated cable channel for ages 18 to 49.

This No. 1 spot is an astounding increase from the network's previous place as the 49th cable network in the 18 to 49 demographic. The overall viewers for the channel was a 500 percent increase from the network's viewers before the marathon.

As we previously reported, the struggling network gained the rights to The Simpsons back in November.

The marathon event was intended in part to advertise the network's upcoming app, "Simpsons World," which will allow viewers to watch any of the 552 episodes of the series at any time, so long as they authenticate the app with their cable description.

Aside from the app, even with the marathon completed, FXX still plans to broadcast plenty more of The Simpsons. According to Variety, FXX will air blocks of the show five days for a total of 24 hours of The Simpsons per week.
