Hours after a video showing Ray Rice assaulting his then-fiancee Janay Palmer back in February was released, the Baltimore Ravens announced they had terminated his contract. The NFL followed up by suspending him indefinitely.

Rice, who was previously suspended only two games for domestic violence, now appears done in the league after TMZ Sports obtained video of inside the casino elevator showing the whole world the brutality of his attack on his now-wife.

The NFL has come out on Monday and denied ever seeing this particular video beforehand, despite reporters previously saying otherwise.

In the video Rice can be seen punching his wife hard enough that her head bounces of the railing on the Atlantic City casino elevator, which knocks her unconscious.

The Ravens knew as soon as the video dropped they could no longer provide support for Rice and moved to end their relationship with the running back.

ESPN is reporting that the Ravens ended Rice's contract with the team and NFL commissioner Roger Goodell followed that up by suspending him indefinitely.

The indefinite suspension isn't too surprising given that Goodell was slammed for Rice's initial two-game suspension enough that he moved to institute minimum penalties for those arrested for domestic violence and apologized for not properly acting. Players now found guilty of domestic violence face a six-game suspension for the first offense and a possible permanent ban for a second assault.
