The results of an autopsy done on legendary comedienne Joan Rivers was released on Friday and it provided no clear cut answers on her death.

The Medical Examiner's Office exclusively spoke with TMZ and explained that they did a physical examination on the 81-year-old Fashion Police host but will need to conduct a more thorough examination before possibly being able to provide a conclusive cause of death.

Until toxicology tests come back and interviews are conducted with those who were involved in the vocal cord procedure, the Medical Examiner has said there is not a clear "cause and manner of death."

According to CNN, police have yet to open up any criminal investigation into Rivers' death, but the clinic is now under investigation and there could potentially be a malpractice suit depending what is turned up.

Rivers passed away on Thursday at the age of 81 about a week after she stopped breathing during throat surgery.

Her daughter, Melissa Rivers, confirmed her mother's death in a statement. "It is with great sadness that I announce the death of my mother, Joan Rivers."
