Sons of Anarchy returned up in the ratings Tuesday night on FX as it looks like viewers are ready to return in force to watch the final season of Jax and company.

The debut telecast drew 6.2 million viewers, while managing to set a new record for SOA in the advertiser important 18-49 demographic, Deadline reports. Nielsen numbers have 4.1 million in the demo tuning in.

In the demo, SOA just snagged its most watched episode. Overall, the biker drama is up 5 percent over the start of the sixth season in 2013.

FX, lead by network president John Landgraf, has stated an intent to turn away from looking at same day numbers with the popularity of delayed viewings. The network is more interested in the live+three day numbers, which improved to 8.3 million for last season's first episode, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The seventh season debut could very well pass that mark and become the most watched episode for the series.

The after show Anarchy Afterward also managed to perform fairly strongly, drawing a 1.4 rating in the 18-49 demo.
