The latest NCIS spinoff got off to a strong start Tuesday night, while Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returned down.

Despite the strong performance for CBS, NBC still romped to victory in the all-important 18-49 demographic with a 3.6 rating and 11.81 million viewers. The Voice rebounded on its second night after a weak premiere to draw a 4.0 demo rating, HitFix reports. Chicago Fire returned strong with a 2.7 rating in the demo.

Though CBS only averaged a 2.4 rating in the demo, the network did boast the largest overall audience with 15.25 million viewers. NCIS premiered with a 2.9 rating, leading into the debut of spinoff series NCIS: New Orleans, which averaged a 2.5 demo rating. Person of Interest drew a 1.8 rating to close out the night for CBS.

ABC came in third with a low 1.8 rating in the 18-49 demo and 7.22 million viewers. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Dancing With the Stars proved to be a weak for S.H.I.E.L.D after drawing only a 1.6 demo rating. S.H.I.E.L.D. started off its sophomore season down slightly to a 1.9 rating, but the comic book series has always done better in the DVR numbers. Forever held steady with a 1.7 rating.

Fox struggled mightily on the night, averaging only a 1.0 in the advertiser important demographic and 2.07 million viewers. Utopia continues to be largely ignored and drew only a 0.8 rating. New Girl slipped from last week's premiere to average a 1.3 rating, while The Mindy Project followed similarly down with a 1.0 demo rating.
