Unsurprisingly the first real game of the NFL 2014-15 season helped NBC dominate on Thursday night, though Big Brother managed to hold its ground.

NBC ran away with the victory among the four major networks with an 8.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 22.505 million viewers. According to The Hollywood Reporter, The NFL season opener between the Seattle Seahawks and the Green Bay Packers drew 23.7 million viewers and a huge 9.0 demo rating. While the numbers are strong for the network, they are actually a slight dip in comparison with last year.

CBS came second with a 1.5 rating, which is still strong for the summer and 5.66 million viewers. Big Brother was up on the night to a 2.2 demo rating, despite the strong showing for NFL.

Fox fell on the night and drew only a 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demo and 2.16 million viewers, HitFix reports. The network wisely opted to go with encores for the night.

ABC followed with a 0.4 rating in the advertising important demo and 1.89 million viewers. The network offered up only two-hours of ignored freshman reality series The Quest, which drew a miserable 0.4 rating and lost a 700,000 viewers between the two hours.
