The return of Sunday Night Football and Big Brother easily overcame the decent premiere of Fox's Utopia to lead the night.

NBC easily won the night thanks to the Colts-Broncos game, averaging a 6.7 rating in the 18-49 demo and 18.03 million viewers. According to The Hollywood Reporter, SNL returned down just about 10 percent from last year in overall audience and pulling in an 8.0 rating in Fast Nationals. Last year, the game snagged a 9.1 demo rating.

Fox performed well on the night with a 3.2 rating in the demo and 7.98 million viewers. Most of that was thanks to the end of NFL afternoon games and The OT. Utopia debuted afterwards to a 1.9 key demo rating and 4.6 million viewers.

CBS was a distant third with a 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demo and 6.69 million viewers, HitFix reports. Big Brother drew a 2.3 rating, largely unaffected by either football or its new reality competition rival. Unforgettable snagged a 1.1 rating and Reckless followed with a 0.7.

ABC was largely ignored, averaging only a 0.8 rating in the advertiser important demo and 2.515 million viewers. A two-hour new episode of Wipeout actually improved on the night, up to a 0.8 rating.
