The Marvel Universe will be seeing a familiar face soon. Wesley Snipes is reported to be returning to play the role of Blade in an upcoming movie.
According to The New York Daily News the 53-year-old is attempting to make a comeback after being released from a two-and-a-half year prison sentence for tax evasion. Sources close to Snipes are optimistic about his return to film and say Snipes stands to make $3 million from the project.
The original Blade film was released in 1998 and followed up by two sequels Blade II and Blade: Trinity. All three films were written by David Goyer. According to Xposé Entertainment, the rights to the film have moved from New Line Cinema to Marvel Studios.
Snipes has made no secret of the fact that he would love to reboot the Blade series. Xposé Entertainment also reports that Snipes told Loaded magazine about the possibility for the series to be revived saying, "It's so beautiful that no matter where I go people still ask about Blade 4...The old fans and the new fans would love it but gotta have the right script with the right people involved. My job is to be fit, skilled and ready when the opportunity comes along but at the same time I'm not just sitting around waiting for something to happen."
