Thursdays are better than ever because of How to Get Away with Murder. Tensions are continuing to rise, romances are heating up, and new secrets are being revealed every week. But best of all, viewers are just two episodes away from learning who killed Sam Keating. And while fans may be naturally inclined to point the finger at Sam’s loving wife, Annalise, who’s to say the culprit wasn’t someone with a strong connection to Lila looking to exact revenge over their secret affair?
At this rate, anything is possible as it seems like everyone on Middleton’s campus is guilty of something. The only question left now is when will it all unravel? If you didn’t catch last night’s episode of HTGAWM or just want to re-live your favorite moments all over again, here’s a quick recap of what went down:
Annalise and Wes clash.
Following last week’s revelation that Annalise’s husband, Sam was having an extra-marital affair with student, Lila, Wes finds it increasingly difficult to trust his professor. And when Annalise pays him an unexpected visit at his apartment, Wes threatens her with an ultimatum: try to convince Rebecca to come home or suffer the consequences once the police are contacted about Sam’s behavior. Not wanting to risk getting Sam in trouble, Annalise agrees to locate Rebecca and is able to temporarily appease Wes when the young woman returns home to meet with her about her case. However, Wes finds himself baffled by Annalise’s behavior when reports of Lila’s phone being found in her boyfriend, Griffin’s car are made public and she acts like Sam no longer maintains any ties to the case.
Frank and Laurel continue to struggle with their feelings for each other.
Having shared a steamy smooch in last week’s episode, Frank and Laurel’s relationship is still stuck in a weird place and things are quickly becoming even more awkward between them. Annalise’s colleague, Bonnie even notices and suggests that Laurel stop leading Frank on before he gets “hurt,” since he doesn’t “have a shot with a rich girl like her.” Laurel considers Bonnie’s advice before suggesting that she and Frank keep their relationship “strictly professional” or she’ll have to tell Annalise about what they’ve been doing. Seemingly hurt, Frank tells Laurel she likes “playing it safe,” then shuts down any further mention of the situation.
Nate makes an inadvertent discovery.
Frightened by Wes’ threat to go to the police about Sam, Annalise asks Frank for a favor. He winds up planting Lila’s cell phone in Griffin’s car and the entire thing is caught by police surveillance. Although Annalise cost Nate his job on the force, he still receives a copy of the surveillance and is able to make out Frank’s not-so-stealthy indiscretion.
Flashbacks from the night of the bonfire revealing some shocking truths about Asher.
Viewers already learned that Asher showed up at Annalise’s home the night Sam’s body was found, but in this week’s episode, the gang narrowly avoids a run-in with him while on their way to dispose of the remains of Sam’s corpse. Later on in the episode, it is also revealed that Asher slept with Annalise’s colleague, Bonnie that night, but agreed to keep the encounter a secret.
Sam remains confused by Annalise’s efforts to protect him.
Not only does Annalise have Frank plant evidence in Griffin’s car, she also changes the wallpaper in the upstairs of she and Sam’s home to erase his ties to Lila’s murder investigation. Sam is visibly taken aback by Annalise’s behavior given how vocal she’s been about her distrust of him, though things become clearer when Annalise admits she needs to have him around, because she loves him.
