Yes, Lena Headey has her first Game of Thrones nude scene in the fifth season, but showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss have another special card in their deck. They will use the first flashback ever in GoT history.

Benioff and Weiss made this revelation during a Q&A session with film students in Spain, where some scenes from the new season are being shot.

“By making the first season, we set a rule: No prophecies, dreams or flashbacks. We failed the first two and this season the third,” the two said, translated from the Spanish site. “So yes, this season will finally have flashbacks.”

While the translation may make it sound like there will be more than one flashback, Entertainment Weekly reports that there will only be one. This scene will likely be in the opening scene of the first episode, unless there are changes during editing.

Flashbacks had been banned in the series up to this point, but it had been speculated that Weiss and Benioff were finally going to make use of the storytelling tool. Last month, Charles Dance, who plays the now-deceased Tywin Lannister, hinted that he might be making another appearance. “You haven’t seen the last of Tywin Lannister, is all I’ll say,” he told MTV in September.

Let’s just hope this means we get to finally see Sean Bean’s Ned Stark again.
Game of Thronesfifth season will start next year.
