University of Georgia junior running back Todd Gurley received a four-game suspension from the NCAA, which will make him eligible to return to action for the Bulldogs Nov. 15.

Gurley’s suspension comes as punishment for accepting over $3,000 for autographed memorabilia.

In addition to the suspension, Gurley must pay back some of the money and complete 40 hours of community service, according to USA Today.

Georgia is appealing the ruling. Therefore, the NCAA membership committee for reinstatement will assess the situation. The committee can uphold, reduce or remove the punishments but cannot add to them, reports ESPN.com.

Gurley, who has already missed two games, will sit out for No. 11 Georgia’s game against Florida on Nov. 1 and its matchup with Kentucky the following week. He will be eligible to play for the Bulldogs’ showdown with the third-ranked Auburn Tigers on Nov. 15.

So far this season, he has averaged 8.2 yards per carry and has picked up 773 yards and eight touchdowns.

“I don’t think there’s any doubt that Todd is going to finish [his career] with honor,” Georgia head coach Mark Richt said. “He’s going to have a great finish to his career with Georgia.”
