"Exactly a week after the show was first rumored, NBCUniversal has confirmed that Jay Leno will be welcomed back into the family with a car show on CNBC.

The series is currently titled Jay Leno’s Garage and will be based on his Emmy winning web series. Garage was first rumored last week, after several of the Hollywood trades reported on it. However, the network and Leno didn’t make it official until this morning.
“This show will be about anything that rolls, explodes and makes noise,” Leno said in a statement. “We hope to highlight the passion and the stories behind the men and women who made the automobile the greatest invention of the 20th century.”
“CNBC at night has real momentum and Jay’s personality, tremendous fan base and his passion for the subject will contribute mightily to our burgeoning primetime. We’re really excited Jay will continue his storied career with the NBC family and with us at CNBC,” CNBC president Mark Hoffman added.
Garage will be Leno’s first regular program since leaving The Tonight Show behind earlier this year and handing it over to Jimmy Fallon on good terms. Although other networks have tried to work out a deal with Leno, including CNN, none have been successful and he has decided to stay within the NBC family.
Since leaving Tonight, Leno has gone on a standup tour around the country and also appeared on NBC’s summer reality show Last Comic Standing. He also hosted a special Garage episode on Labor Day Weekend for CNBC.
CNBC definitely needs this more than Leno. The network, which focuses on financial news, struggles in the ratings. Its top-rated show isn’t even an original program, but reruns of the ABC reality show Shark Tank.
Garage will debut in 2015.
