Sinead O’Connor, who stays in the news because of her comments, not because of her music, claims that she has hard evidence that Dick Clark Productions really did want Pope Francis to introduce her at the American Music Awards. DCP previously denied that, but O’Connor wants to make sure people don’t think she was just making that up.

Earlier this month, O’Connor wrote a blistering blog rant about the audacity of DCP to think that Francis would appear at a fan-voted awards show.

However, AMA sources told TMZ that the whole story was bunk and that O’Connor contacted them about making an appearance on the show. Plans for an appearance from the pope never happened and she was not contacted about it on Twitter as she had claimed.

O’Connor isn’t taking that lying down. She told TMZ Monday that DCP really did contact her about Pope Francis introducing her. She thinks DCP is trying to ruin her career and her reputation with her record label.

TMZ also claims that it had obtained emails between O’Connor and her label, in which they discussed her meeting the Pope on stage.

O’Connor has had a rough relationship with the Catholic Church. She infamously tore a picture of Pope John Paul II on Saturday Night Live and was banned from the show.
