Get ready Colbert Nation, because we now know when it all comes to an end, at least on Comedy Central.

During last night’s Colbert Report, Stephen Colbert announced when his final show will air before he takes some time off and makes the switch to CBS’ The Late Show.

While plugging the paperback release of his book America Again, Colbert announced that the final Colbert Report episode will air on Thursday, Dec. 18. He suggested that his fans needed to pick up a copy of his book to help fund his vacation.

The Grim Reaper appeared on the show to help Colbert figure out where to spend his vacation, suggesting Hell. Of course, Colbert didn’t get it, assuming that the Reaper meant a warm place with goats, like Greece!

Colbert was named David Letterman’s successor to the Late Show back in April, but Letterman still hasn’t set an exact start date for his retirement. Colbert does plan to keep the show at the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York.

CBS could be planning to make the transition around the same time James Corden takes over the Late Late Show in March. Current host Craig Ferguson is leaving the show on Dec. 19.

Hopefully for CBS, Colbert Nation won’t mind moving from basic cable to broadcast.
