The fourth episode of Blue Bloods titled “Burning Bridges” saw a gay cop who was outed after he witnessed a hate crime at a gay bar. Because of prejudiced beliefs, his partner no longer wants to work with him. Danny and Baez are forced to switch partners, with Baez working with Alex Fuentes, who was outed, and Danny taking Demarest, his regular partner.

Two more storylines involved Frank and then Jamie. A nun who works for the private school that Frank attended approaches him and she asks him to use his connections with the Archdiocese in order to save the school from closure. Frank decides to help as much as he can, but then faces issues after a remark about the church’s stance on homosexuality causes his friend to become upset.

Meanwhile, Jamie and Janko are making an arrest at a domestic dispute situation when a detective named Mike steals the guy to make the arrest. Jamie has had issues with him and with a little help from Erin, he decides to steal a collar of Mike’s.

Filled with exciting moments and tough situations that people face in everyday life, this episode of Blue Bloods had it all. Here are some of the top ten moments from the episode.

10. Fuentes

Alex Fuentes is the cop who is at the scene of a hate crime when the victim is brutally hit over the head. He doesn’t want to be idenfitied as a witness, but he ends up being outed. It was touching to watch as Fuentes tried to just go about his day, even as his partner and family turned their backs on him.

9. Sister

The nun who comes to see Frank understands that he might not be able to get the school help in preventing its closure. At the end of the episode, Frank confirms he wasn’t able to do it because he couldn’t make an apology for his remarks without taking back what he said. She understands and then we come to find out she actually had a girlfriend before leaving to be a nun.

When Danny and Baez have to partner with Demarest and Fuentes respectfully, they are both dumbfounded when they see how Demarest is treating Fuentes. Danny begrudgingly takes Demarest with him to investigate the beating at the gay bar.

At family dinner, the family discusses the situation with the cop who was outed. After discussing what he thinks, Henry asks his son if he will apologize to the church for what he said. In an effort to tease his son, he asks him if he wants humble pie.

It’s always fun to see people rival each other on television shows and even more so when we saw Jamie butt heads with a detective, who was apparently second in class while Jamie graduated first, but still made detective before Jamie. Jamie is not happy Mike stole his collar and wants to get even.

Wjhle working with Damerest, Danny interviews the hate crime victim’s mother. Demarest speaks very few words as Danny asks her what her son was like. It’s a heartbreaking scene as she describes her son as being someone who isn’t the type to get into trouble.

After getting a tip from a fellow detective, Jamie and Janko plan on stealing Mike’s collar, a guy who broke into apartments and left a spider web on the wall when he would finish stealing things. Jamie then decides since he refuses to use his dad as a connection, he will go to his sister, Erin.

When Frank gives a press conference regarding the recent hate crime, he gets questioned regarding the identity of the gay cop and his position as a catholic while employing homosexual cops. Frank forgets himself and makes a comment about him thinking the church was still behind when it came to some beliefs.

At the end of the episode after investigating, Danny, Demarest, Fuentes, and Baez all go to arrest the two men, who are now charged in a murder. After catching the men responsible, Danny offers to let Fuentes do the arrest. Demarest then happily surprises them by asking Danny if he and his partner can take him back to the station, which Danny readily obliges.

Janko is under the impression that Jamie and herself will book the collar, but then Jamie surprises her by taking her to Mike’s department. He tells Mike that they arrested the man and says they found out it was Mike’s case, so they decided to bring him in under the spirit of brotherhood. The other detectives are amused as Mike just looks at Jamie angrily.
