HBO is finalizing the cast for the highly anticipated second season of True Detective. The network and creator Nic Pizzolatto have hired four stars for recurring supporting parts.

Kelly Reilly (Black Box), Abigail Spencer (Suits), Michael Irby (Almost Human) and Leven Rambin (Hunger Games) are almost ready to sign deals to join the anthology series, Deadline reports.

The site notes that both Reilly and Spencer were considered for the female detective lead role, but that has been offered to Rachel McAdams. Her involvement in the project has yet to be confirmed, but it’s a rumor that won’t die and it’s looking like that she could sign on.

So far, the only casting that has been 100 percent confirmed is Colin Farrell as one of the three lead detectives and Vince Vaughn as a career criminal working with them. Taylor Kitsch said he is onboard, but HBO hasn’t confirmed it yet. The Normal Heart star will play the third detective.

The new season is expected to take place in California and centers on a complicated murder and conspiracy. Reilly is set to star as self-possessed Morgan, while Irby will play McAdams’ partner. Rambin’s part will be a beautiful woman with past drug problems and Spencer is a survivor of a sexual attack.
