It was an explosive winter finale of How to Get Away with Murder on Thursday night. Not only did viewers finally learn the identity of Sam Keating’s killer, but they also got to witness the fallout of Sam’s absence on Annalise and her budding law students. The only question that’s left to be answered is, what happens next?

If you missed the finale of HTGAWM or just want to re-live your favorite moments all over again, here’s a quick recap of what went down:

Annalise and Sam share an intense argument.

When Annalise is fed up with all of Sam’s lies, she tells him she’s leaving. Unwilling to let her go, Sam tries to convince her to talk through things with him, which leads to a major fight between the couple. In the heat of the moment, Annalise confesses that she’s been having an affair with a detective, Nate, and that he treats her a lot better than Sam has recently. Enraged, Sam calls Annalise a hypocrite and begins to choke her while they continue to scream and trade insults. Eventually, Sam breaks his hold on Annalise and she leaves as she’d originally planned.

Annalise briefly considers turning Sam in.

Sometime after the fight, Annalise drives to the police station with the intent to share everything she knows about Sam’s affair and his connection to Lila. Unable to bring herself to tell the truth, Annalise leaves the station and instead visits Nate, who is surprisingly compassionate given their tense history. Nate listens to Annalise’s regrets about protecting Sam and even offers to let her stay the night, so she won’t have to pay for a hotel. Initially reluctant, Annalise soon takes Nate up on his offer and the two share a steamy love scene. Later, after Nate has fallen asleep, Annalise sneaks out.

Asher and Bonnie hook up.

Viewers who have been following the series closely will remember seeing part of Asher and Bonnie’s hookup in an earlier episode, but this time around, they get further insight into the surprising encounter. After a brief make-out with a stranger she meets in a bar, Bonnie calls Asher and asks if he’s up for some company. When Asher says that he is, he and Bonnie meet up and she wastes no time in initiating sex. Asher stops her, claiming that she’s too wasted to fully comprehend what she’s doing, however, Bonnie reassures him she knows what she wants. Later on in the episode, Bonnie makes Asher promise not to tell anyone about their secret “rendezvous,” before a frantic call from Annalise ruins the mood between them.

Rebecca goes searching for answers.

Determined to prove that Sam is Lila’s killer, Rebecca takes the USB drive Nate gave her and arrives at the Keating house to snoop through Sam’s computer. Rebecca manages to load information onto the drive, but when she and Wes return to the motel room following the fallout of Sam’s death, he suggests they destroy it in order to remove themselves from the crime scene. Rebecca becomes frustrated with Wes, but doesn’t stop him from getting rid of the evidence.

Sam’s killer is revealed.

Michaela arrives at the Keating house to return the trophy she stole from Asher, but Annalise isn’t home. Sam insists that she leave, but Michaela won’t hear of it, stressing the importance of delivering the trophy to her professor face-to-face, so she can be excused from her final exam. Rebecca shows up a few moments later and darts past Sam to search his computer upstairs. Feeling ambushed, Sam chases after her and bangs on the door, but Rebecca won’t come out. Meanwhile, Michaela is caught in the middle and panics when she talks to Wes, demanding that he, Connor, and Laurel get to the Keating house immediately. When Wes and the others show up, they try to reason with Sam, telling him they’ll leave without any problems as soon as Rebecca is finished. Rebecca emerges from the bedroom a few moments later and says she didn’t find anything, but that doesn’t stop Sam from going after her and the others. In order to protect the group, Michaela pries Sam off of Rebecca and pushes him over the stairwell. He falls to the ground, but is not yet dead. When the group argues about Michaela’s rash decision, Sam springs up and pins Rebecca to the ground, preparing to strangle her. Wes saves Rebecca by bashing Sam’s head in with the trophy.

Wes, Rebecca, Laurel, Connor and Michaela must deal with their responsibility in Sam’s death.

Following Sam’s death, the group must figure out how to dispose of his remains without getting caught. They drag Sam’s body to the woods and set it on fire before bagging up his remains and disposing of them in a dumpster. Upon finishing the task, the group is still shaken and matters become more complicated when they are called to the Keating home the next day. Annalise informs her students that the police are on their way and will be asking them lots of questions about her husband, Sam. She also asks them to be as honest as possible.
