The Bill Cosby story took another strange twist with a report about how he allegedly kept the National Enquirer from reporting on a woman claiming that she was sexually assaulted by the comedian. Another report suggests that he gave the tabloid a story about his daughter’s struggle with drug addiction so it wouldn’t run a story about his night with showgirls.

Over the weekend, the Daily Beast reported that Andrea Constand’s civil complaint against Cosby from 2006 alleges that another woman was ready to go public with her own Cosby story at the time. However, to keep the National Enquirer from publishing this woman’s allegations, Cosby gave the tabloid an exclusive interview.

The 2006 complaint, which ended with a settlement out of court, Cosby and his lawyer, Marty Singer, spoke with the Enquirer in 2005, “knowing it would injure Plaintiff, and to deprive her of her good name, credit and reputation.”

In that interview, Cosby told the tabloid, “I’m not saying that what I did was wrong, but I apologize to my loving wife, who has stood by my side for all these years.”

The woman who was going to come forward was Beth Ferrier, who did eventually give her story to the Philadelphia Daily News in June 2005. She claimed that Cosby assaulted her in 1984, following a consensual affair with Cosby.

Today, The New York Post’s Richard Johnson published another story of Cosby’s relationship with the Enquirer. This alleged incident happened in 1989, when the tabloid was about to publish a story on Cosby “swinging with Sammy Davis Jr. and some showgirls in Las Vegas,” according to Johnson’s unnamed source.

To keep the Enquirer from revealing the story, Cosby allegedly told the tabloid about his daughter, Erinn and her battle with drug and alcohol abuse.

“My editor told me that daddy Cosby was the source. He ratted out his flesh and blood,” Johnson’s source, a former Enquirer reporter, said.

Meanwhile, Cosby has lost another gig. Reuters reports that the Capitol Theatre in Yakima, Washington has cancelled Cosby’s show, as has the Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut. Cosby performances in Las Vegas and Tucson have also been cancelled.
