Surprisingly, CBS made the bizarre decision to cancel Will Arnett’s The Millers, which had only just started its sophomore season.

CBS made the move late Friday night. The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that production has been immediately shut down. The show’s future beyond its Nov. 17 episode is unclear.

The Millers was created by My Name Is Earl’s Greg Garcia and starred Arnett as a divorced man living with his parents, played by Beau Bridges and Margo Martindale. The CBS TV Studios show managed to get a second season over 20th Century Fox TV’s The Crazy Ones at the end of last season.

At the last moment, CBS decided to take away The Millers’ post-Big Bang Theory Thursday night slot and give it to Anna Farris’ Mom and moved it to Mondays after 2 Broke Girls at 8:30 p.m.

Entertainment Weekly reports that the latest episode only drew 6.48 million viewers, a major fall from its 8.93 million viewers for the season premiere.

CBS does have the option of replacing the show with Mike & Molly, which has already finished filming several episodes. The network is also holding back Matthew Perry’s The Odd Couple remake for midseason.

The network only debuted one new sitcom this fall, The McCarthys.

Other sitcoms that have already been cancelled include ABC’s Selfie and Manhattan Love Story. NBC has also canned A To Z and Bad Judge.
