A month after Elisabeth Hasselbeck left Fox News’ Fox & Friends morning show to recover from a mystery surgery, she returned to the show and revealed just what happened.

The former View co-host explained to viewers that a tumor was found in her abdomen. Doctors thought it might be cancerous, so they took no chances and removed the tumor. Thankfully, they discovered that it was not cancerous, but she had a week without knowing the results.

Hasselbeck later became emotional, clutching co-host Steve Doocy’s hand as she thanked her co-workers, friends and Fox News for their support.

“I could not be more thankful for my family and my friends who've stuck by me with incredible support,” she said, notes The Hollywood Reporter. “And really starting from the top down here, [Fox News CEO] Mr. [Roger] Ailes and this entire Fox family treated me like family the entire way... I'm certainly not a person who takes a lot for granted, but I certainly don't take it for granted now."

A clip of Hasselbeck’s children sending a message to their mother also made it on air.

As we previously reported, Hasselbeck’s co-anchors kept the reason for the surgery a mystery. Doocy only mentioned that she had “some surgery” on Oct. 14.

Hasselbeck joined Fox News in September 2013.
