The channel G4 will be going away really soon.
The owners of G4, NBCUniversal, will remove the cable channel from the air on November 30, according to IGN. The news came in a statement by the company on Sunday that was sent to TV providers that still aired the channel.
G4 came onto TV in 2002, reported Polygon. They grew famous for programming related to video games such as Attack of the Show! among other programs. Recently, G4 stayed on the air with reruns of both their own shows and other channels’ shows, but NBCUniversal wouldn’t give any more money to the channel.
Polygon also reported that G4 was originally planned to be replaced by the Esquire network. However, Esquire replaced another NBCUniversal channel called Style. Style was chosen by the company to be replaced because they also owned three other channels still on the air that had a high female viewership. The channel also had a higher number of viewers than G4, which was believed to give Esquire a better launch. The Esquire Network took over for Style on Sept. 23.
