The Financial World is Violent

The episode begins with two men fighting in the middle of an office building after hours. The fight becomes fatal as one man stands victorious while an unknown person is watching through a surveillance camera. The next morning Jim and Harvey find the body of the man abandoned under a bridge. Edward is at the crime scene with them and finds a finger in the man’s mouth. Jim tells Edward to run all of the fingerprints. We see Oswald approach a woman and bully her into giving him her broche. Oswald attends a meeting with Fish and offers her his friendship. Fish accepts, while explaining to Oswald that business is as usual between the two families and Oswald reminds her that no blood is to be spilled. Fish opens his gift and thanks him, before stabbing him in the hand. Fish tells Oswald the only reason he is alive is because Falcone spared his life. Fish warns Oswald…”Things change.”

Bruce returns to school very skeptical and unmotivated to be back. Jim is at GCPD talking with the mother of the man they found dead under the bridge, Coleman. Harvey is talking with Captain Essen about how Jim is still upset about every cop abandoning him. She says he is lucky that he still has Harvey. Oswald visits his mother and they talk about respect and how everyone has secrets. Harvey and Jim visit a Black Market doctor and find out that he operated on the man who killed Coleman. Jim arrests the doctor which garners some heat from the rest of GCPD. Harvey pleads with Jim to release the doctor but Jim refuses. He is still upset that the entire department turned their backs on him. Jim arrives home and finds Barbara with a gun raised. She is still upset and scared about being stalked by Victor Zsasz. Jim promises that he won’t allow anything to happen to her. We return to the finance office building where two men in cages are about to be released by a man in a mask.

Barbara apologizes to Jim about last night. Edward is at GCPD performing a forensic examination until another examiner comes in and tells him to leave. Bruce is confronted by some kids outside asking him about his parents and their death. Bruce is uncomfortable and walks away. He has another altercation inside where the same kids bully and tease Bruce. He smacks one of the kids when they talk about his mother. Liza meets with Fish at a church. She talks about her actions with Falcone and isn’t sure what she is to him. Fish gives her something that will knock him out for several hours which will allow her to sneak into his private office and copy the last two pages of his private ledger. This seems to be the beginning of Fish's slow moving plan to take over the Falcone family.

Jim and Harvey visit Sionis Finances and meet with CEO Richard Sionis. He claims to have no knowledge of any of the accusations Jim is accusing him of. Jim says he knows that Sionis killed Coleman and that he is going to prove it. Jim sees blood on the ground and goes into the bathroom where he has an altercation with a man who seems to be recovering from a fight. Jim and Harvey interrogate the man with the missing thumb and accuse him of killing Coleman. He claims it was self-defense. They find out that Sionis told the clients they had to fight it out for a position in the company. Edward tells them that he was killed in an office and the black ink found on him was printer toner. A lawyer representing the man accused of killing Coleman arrives before he can sign his statement. Jim is determined to find where Sionis is staging the fights. Jim feels that the murder of the Wayne’s could have been the beginning of the massive crime wave in Gotham.
Oswald meets with Timothy, the man who took his job with Fish. The men beat up Timothy while Oswald sits there watching on. Alfred picks up Bruce from school and Bruce says he did not hurt the boy who was making fun of him. Bruce seems shaken up. They discover that Sionis owns half the city and split up the list. Barbara calls Jim but the conversation is ended abruptly. Liza makes afternoon tea for Falcone and adds the sedative given to her by Fish. Jim finds an abandoned office with two men in cages, getting ready for the next Sionis fight. Jim asks if anyone else is here but then is immediately hit with a taser by Sionis.

Alfred and Bruce arrive at the boys’ house who was tormenting him. Alfred gives him his father’s watch and when the boy comes outside, Bruce punches him repeatedly demanding he never
talk about his parents. Alfred commends Bruce on closing the matter with this bully. Jim wakes up and is right in the middle of the next fight that is about to happen. Sions tells the men that whoever kills Jim gets the job. Harvey is nervous that he hasn’t heard from Jim and tries to get some of the other officers in GCPD to help him. Harvey calls out all of GCPD and slowly the officers accept helping Jim.

Jim continues to fight these three men while the rest of the office watches on a television. Jim is able to fight off all three of the men. He is then confronted by Sionis, who we learn is the man in the mask. Sionis and Jim fight and Jim has the chance to stab and kill Sionis but he refuses to. Captain Essen arrives with backup at the perfect time. Fish is at her club when Liza arrives. Liza says that she wants out. Fish wants revenge on Falcone because one of Falcone’s men murdered her mother. Liza gives her the information she wants and Fish promises that nothing will happen to her.

Oswald is torturing and interrogating Timothy. Timothy tells him that she has someone close to Falcone. Oswald then gives the order to kill Timothy and that nobody can find the body. Jim thanks Harvey for his help and says he is not going to stop. He is going after everyone that is “dirty” in Gotham. We find out that Fish was lying to Liza to get her to continue staying with Falcone. We see Barbara leaving Jim’s apartment and a note left on the table addressed to Jim. Jim is heading out when he finds out they brought in Selina Kyle. Bruce says he enjoyed hurting the bully and that he is angry all the time. He asks Alfred if he can teach him how to fight. Alfred promises to teach Bruce how to fight.
