Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Dwayne Gratz missed practice on Monday following his arrest for trying to purchase items in a grocery story with gum instead of cash.

The Florida Times-Union reported that Gratz was arrested at 5:53 a.m. Sunday after he tried to buy some items with bubble gum.

According to the police report, the second-year cornerback began arguing with an employee about his method of pay at an on-site store at the Ocean Reef Suits in Miami Beach. He also reportedly reeked of alcohol and refused to leave the store when asked.

When MBPD officers arrived, Gratz told them that he was not leaving, however, he ultimately did leave the store in handcuffs and was charged with disorderly intoxication and trespassing.

Miami-Dade County court records state that the 24-year-old spent the night in jail before posting $1,000 bond.

“I’ll meet with him and we’ll handle it internally,” Jags head coach, Gus Bradley said of Gratz’s embarrassing situation. “It’s not good what took place, but it’s a matter we have to investigate even more when he gets back here. I want to talk to him and we’ll handle some things with him.”

The starting corner was selected by the team in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft and has recorded 64 total tackles and 2 interceptions, Pro-Football-Reference.com noted.
