CBS hopes to get audiences familiar with English comedian James Corden before he takes over The Late Late Show from Craig Ferguson next year. The Into The Woods star has been booked for an appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman.

Corden will appear on Friday’s episode to chat with Letterman, who is also an outgoing CBS late night host. The actor, who recently appeared in Begin Again with Keira Knightley, will also get to talk about Disney’s Into The Woods, which opens on Dec. 25.

This will be Corden’s first appearance on The Late Show. He officially takes over for Ferguson in March, although Ferguson’s last shows are in December. In between, CBS will have celebrity hosts fill in.

Letterman is also scheduled to leave The Late Show next year, since he is retiring. Corden’s lead-in will be Colbert Reporthost Stephen Colbert, although an exact date for that transition has not been set. Corden’s Into The Woods co-star Meryl Streep will be on The Late Show Thursday night.
