After months of anticipation, Lifetime’s Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever aired and it didn’t take long for #WorstChristmasEver to start trending on Twitter, with confused viewers voicing their frustrations. Most recognizable, the film’s star, Aubrey Plaza, even tweeted her confusion.
It was first reported back in June that Lifetime would be making a Christmas special based on the beloved Grumpy Cat, whose real name is Tardar Sauce.
It’s probably a bad sign that Plaza, who voiced Grumpy Cat, used the hashtag "#whyamiwatchingthis," though she was probably just stirring the pot to get more viewers to tune in.
“TERRIBLE MOVIE THEY WROTE #oscarbuzz #WorstChristmasEver I. DONT. UNDERSTAND. THE. PLOT. OF. THIS. MOVIE,” she tweeted.
She continued to live tweet and quote the film, while entertaining other Twitter users’ criticism.
Plaza seemed to like the comparison to Sharknado, retweeting, “This movie is like if #sharknado had a Christmas special. #WorstChristmasEver.”
“RT IF YOU WANT A GRUMPY SEQUEL. GRUMPYS WORST VACATION IN MEOAUIii! HAWAIIAN STYLE! PLEASE GOD LET THIS HAPPEN #WorstChristmasEver,” she later wrote, proving she’s just having some fun with it and hopes to continue.
