Mama June sat down for her first interview since the child molestation scandal came out and her family’s TLC show Here Comes Honey Boo Boo was canceled as a result of that.
In the first of two interviews she conducted, she told ETOnline’s Brooke Anderson that she became sexually active at the age of 12 and dated men significantly older than her as a teenager. She also admitted she didn’t believe her daughter, Anna, 20, at first when she found out about Mark McDaniels’ molestation.
"I was dating men who were in their 20s and 30s," she said in the interview that aired on Thursday. "I was just honestly looking for the attention I wasn't getting at home."
She also talked about being in denial about McDaniels sexually molesting Anna at age 8, "You don't think somebody you've been with for five years would do anything like that honestly,” also claiming she didn’t know about it until “almost two and a half years ago."
However, she said she does now believe her.
She also sat down with Dr. Phil on Wednesday for an interview that will air on Monday, Us Weekly reports.
In it, she claimed the photo of herself with McDaniels in a hotel room is fake and that TLC did pay her the money she would’ve made for the now-canceled season.
When asked why Alana ‘Honey Boo Boo’ Thompson was around McDaniels, she said "Because my kids don't go anywhere without me 24 hours a day.”
