Melissa McCarthy will be the latest celebrity to launch her own fashion line. The Emmy winner’s collection will hit stores in fall 2015.
McCarthy told Women’s Wear Daily that she has always wanted to be a fashion designer since she was in elementary school. Now, with both an Emmy win and an Oscar nomination on her resume, she’s got the chance to fulfill her dream.
McCarthy has teamed up with Gerard Guez’s Sunrise Brands. In addition to clothing, the line will also include accessories and beauty products. The line, which still doesn’t have a name, will be available in the U.S., U.K. and Canada. More upscale products will be added in 2016.
“I’d been looking for two, three, maybe four years for manufacturers to help us do this line,” McCarthy told WWD. “But after we met with Sunrise, we felt they were committed to changing the plus-size game.”
However, McCarthy doesn’t want her line to be plus sizes only. “I’m doing all sizes,” she said. “It’s a strange thing to stop at a certain size. Women don’t, so why should clothes?”
McCarthy was last seen in the movie St. Vincent. Her CBS series Mike & Molly returns to CBS on Dec. 8.
