As widely expected, CBS will give Melissa McCarthy’s Mike & Molly an earlier season premiere than planned after the network surprisingly cancelled The Millers late last week.
As we previously reported, CBS cancelled The Millers, which starred Will Arnett, just weeks after it started its second season. The show had been moved to 8:30 p.m. on Mondays after 2 Broke Girls and its ratings reached new series lows.
The Millers’ episode last night will be its series finale. CBS hasn’t announced what will air in the slot this upcoming Monday, but the network is planning a two-hour Mike & Molly marathon on Monday, Dec. 1 to remind fans of what happened during the fourth season.
The first new episode of Mike & Molly will air on Monday, Dec. 8 at 8:30 p.m. after a new 2 Broke Girls.
Mike & Molly stars Billy Gardell and McCarthy as the title couple. McCarthy won an Emmy for the role in 2011.
CBS’ only freshman sitcom of the fall, The McCarthys, is still alive. The network does plan on debuting its Odd Couple reboot this midseason.
