Oscar nominated actress Minnie Driver has joined the cast of NBC’s Peter Pan Live!, which flies onto television next month.
Driver, who currently stars on the NBC sitcom About A Boy, will play the adult version of Wendy, who also acts as the narrator for the musical.
She already joins a star-studded cast headlined by Allison Williams (Girls) as Peter Pan and Christopher Walken as Captain Hook. Tony nominee Kelli O’Hara plays Mrs. Darling, while Christian Borle will play both Smee and George Darling.
Driver shot to fame with her Oscar-nominated supporting part in Good Will Hunting and recently earned an Emmy nod for the Lifetime movie Return to Zero. She also earned an Emmy nod for FX’s The Riches.
In addition to her acting resume, she is also a singer, recently recording the album Ask Me To Dance.
Robert Greenblatt, Chairman, NBC Entertainment, said in a statement that they are thrilled to have Driver in the cast.
“She appears in the final emotional scene when Peter returns to the Darling home years later only to realize Wendy is now grown up and has a daughter of her own, but you’ll also hear her voice throughout the movie since Adult Wendy is also our narrator,” Greenblatt said. “She’s a classy addition to our wonderful cast.”
Peter Pan Live! will be executive produced by the Sound of Music Live! team Craig Zadan and Neil Meron. Prior to the live broadcast on Dec. 4, NBC will also air The Making of Peter pan Live! on Nov. 26.
