NBC is trying to produce a live production of the play A Few Good Men to be aired on their network.
Known recently for bringing a live musical production of The Sound of Music to the living rooms of American families all across the country, it appears NBC has decided to try and give the same treatment to non-musical productions.
The movie A Few Good Men starring Jack Nicholson and Tom Cruise came out in 1992 and was nominated for the Academy Award of Best Picture in1993. Nicholson's line in the film, "You can't handle the truth," is ranked number 29 on the American Film Institute's list of greatest movie quotes.
Before it was a film, A Few Good Men was a play written by legendary television writer, Aaron Sorkin. Variety reported that NBC is in early negotiations with Sorkin with hopes that he will rewrite the play for a television broadcast.
Next up for NBC is a live performance of the musical Peter Pan starring Allison Williams as the boy who never grew up and Christopher Walken as Captain Hook. Watch the live performance December 4 on NBC.
