Amidst all of the controversy that has been surrounding Bill Cosby in the last few weeks, Netflix has decided to postpone a comedy special that was set to stream on November 28.
According to People, the comedy special, called, Bill Cosby 77, was billed as a birthday celebration for Cosby. In the special, Cosby shares stories about his childhood, relationships, and parenthood, and was reportedly supposed to show the comedian "at the top of his craft."
The special was recorded at the San Francisco Jazz Center on his 77th birthday in July.
In a statement, a Netflix spokesperson said, "At this time we are postponing the launch of the new stand-up comedy special Bill Cosby 77."
The postponement of Bill Cosby 77 follows rape allegations against Cosby coming back into the spotlight after comedian Hannibal Buress called him a rapist during one of his stand up shows in Philadelphia. Since then, Cosby has backed out of appearing on the The Queen Latifah Show, as well as The Late Show with David Letterman.
NBC, who has been planning a new sitcom with Cosby, has also been under pressure to pull the plug on the show. The network has remained quiet on the rape allegations, just like Cosby and his wife were during a recent NPR interview.
Cosby's lawyer has spoken out however, saying Cosby will not "dignify" the allegations, calling them, "decade-old, discredited" rumors.
