Nick Lachey is currently expecting his second child with wife Vanessa Lachey, which prompted him to reflect on his divorce from Jessica Simpson.
Lachey already has a 2-year-old son Camden and will soon have a baby girl while Simpson has two children with her husband Eric Johnson; Maxwell, 2, and Ace Knute, 16 months.
During an appearance on Jenny McCarthy’s SiriusXM radio show Dirty, Sexy, Funny, he said it was "probably the best thing that could have ever happened, that we didn't have kids.”
People reports he went on to explain the current status of their relationship, which he described as non-existent.
"I wouldn't say it's friends and I wouldn't say it's enemies," he said. "There's just no contact. We've both moved on with our lives, and I think we are very happy it went the way it went. It's not animosity, it's not friendship – it's just kind of nothing."
Simpson married Johnson in July after being engaged since 2010, while Lachey married the former TRL host in 2011.
