Avril Lavigne’s husband, Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger, has denied recent rumors that they’re headed for divorce just a year of marriage.
During a sit-down with ET Canada with his band, Kroeger called the rumors “amusing” and poked fun at the celebrity world of gossip.
“You know my dad calls me up and he's just like, 'I haven't slept in 2 days, what's going on?' I'm like, 'Dad you're not buying all this crap are you?' You know, I get to hear all the rumor mill stuff. I find it very amusing,” he said.
The rumors really gained traction when Us Weekly ran a story about their alleged split, with sources confirming it.
She celebrated her 30th birthday without her husband in September and tweeted about spending it with her sister and best friend instead, which fueled the rumors further. They started the night at Akira Back's Yellowtail Restaurant and Bar then ended it at The Bank Nightclub.
Kroeger said high school gossip is "minuscule, pales in comparison to the world of celebrity."
People reports he also told Canada's E-talk, "Sometimes it's funny. When you're standing in the checkout line at the grocery store and you look over and it's your face on there. Not the … Kardashians … and Brangelinas … it's 'Chavril.’ "You're like, 'Can I buy all these? So that no one can see?' "
