Who is the Vessel?

Katrina awakes from a nightmare she has about the spider crawling inside her. She feels ill when she wakes up and The Horseman tries to comfort her. Henry bursts in and says he is here on Moloch’s orders. The men with Henry find that Katrina is infected and try and take her away. She hears Henry say that Moloch has a new purpose for her. The Horseman fights off the men, and is weakened by the sunlight, but he does allow Katrina to escape. Meanwhile, Ichabod and Abbie are at the voting precincts. Ichabod’s interactions and interactions at the precinct are absolutely hilarious. They get word that Katrina is in the hospital and rush to see her. They find out she has a fever and an infection in her abdominal wall. Katrina begins screaming in pain as they see the infection spreading inside her. They escape the hospital as the men with Henry arrive looking for her. They split up, with Katrina and Ichabod retreating to the Archives while Abbie is going to trail Henry’s men.

In the Archives, she remembers the symbols from the book and Ichabod recognizes the symbol. It is from the Hellfire Club, a secret British society of scientists. They fought for evil to prevail during the War of Independence. He is unsure what this means for Katrina. Katrina promises that she has no more secrets from Ichabod. Abbie follows Henry’s men to the warehouse where she sneaks inside. She gets several pictures, including one of an ancient tablet. Abbie returns to the Archives with the news and they find out that Katrina is not ill…that she is pregnant. Ichabod is devastated by the news but Katrina claims whatever is inside her is not from any man. They find out that Henry used the Jenkin poison to plant a demon inside Katrina. They hide in the tunnels as the men break into the Archives.

They go to the church where young Jeremy changed his name to Henry Parrish. Katrina suggests an odd idea that Henry could be the one to remove the demon from inside her. They argue about what to do. Katrina has faith in Henry and Abbie tries to convince them not to trust Henry. Ichabod seems very torn about what to do and ultimately decides their best option is to trust Henry. Henry rushes to meet with Irving but finds out he is actually meeting with Ichabod. Henry reveals that the seed planted inside Katrina is Moloch, with his intention to rise onto Earth. Ichabod tries to convince Henry to fight the evil that Moloch has bestowed in him. In the Archives, Katrina suggests that they could stop Moloch from rising by killing the vessel. Abbie will not let Katrina commit suicide.

Katrina pleads with Ichabod not to give up on Henry if she dies. They find a cure to possibly banish the demon. They find that the tablet has an aurora built inside and if they get it into the sunlight and shine it on Katrina, they can banish Moloch. They inform Sheriff Reyes about what is really going on with the Hellfire Club. Reyes is skeptical but she believes them. They send a tactical team to go after the club and a shootout breaks out. They struggle but Ichabod is able to retrieve the tablet. Reyes has renewed faith in Abbie and Ichabod.

They race back to the church and find Katrina in excruciating pain. Ichabod breaks the tablet open and finds the aurora. Katrina is screaming in agony and Moloch is beginning to rise from her stomach. Ichabod puts the aurora in the sunlight and is able to banish Moloch from Katrina. She stops breathing momentarily but she survives and Ichabod is utterly relieved. Abbie and Ichabod know they are running out of time before Henry finds Katrina. Ichabod still believes that Henry can be saved. The episode ends with Henry channeling lightning into a jar, an evil smile on his face.
