Taylor Swift’s love life is a huge source of inspiration for her music, but it seems the “Blank Space” singer has become jaded when it comes to lasting relationships.
She’s dated Jake Gyllenhall, John Mayer, Harry Styles and more, but she admits none of her relationships have been long-term. As a result, she doesn’t believe in “happily ever after.”
“I really used to think that happily ever after was a thing,” she said, at least “not in those simple terms.”
She continued to tell Lucky mag, “I think that no matter what you find in terms of happiness and compatibility, there's always going to be a struggle attached to it. I used to believe that you find the one and that's it: Nothing's difficult after that.”
"But then again, I know nothing now. I know legitimately nothing about lasting relationship experiences because I don't have them,” she added.
Since dating Styles, she’s taken a much more independent approach to her life and has made it clear in interviews that she’s not interested in a boyfriend right now.
If she were to start dating again, though, she would have to be as interested in the guy as she is in her daily coffee.
"Coffee's a big part of my life. Skinny caramel lattes are a daily thing that I get excited about and I never stop being excited about,” she said. "So if I could just find one person who I felt that way about—the way I feel about coffee—then I think I'd be in a content relationship."
