Ever wonder what an entire season of a singing competition would be like if it was squeezed into one, two-hour episode? Viewers will get to find out next month when NBC’s The Sing-Off returns for a one-episode fifth season.

The network announced that just six groups of a cappella singers will compete for the $50,000 prize during the two-hour episode, which will air on Dec. 17 at 9 p.m. Former 98 Degrees singer Nick Lachey will be the host once again.

The three-member judge’s panel will include Jewel, who also did the show’s fourth season; Shawn Stockman of Boyz II Men, who is also returning; and Fall Out Boy’s Patrick Stump. It will be Stump’s first time on the show.

NBC has tried to make The Sing-Off an annual holiday tradition, as last year’s fourth season also aired during the winter. The network also changed up its format then, airing episodes on consecutive nights.

Last year’s winner was Home Free, who recently released their album, Crazy Life, which hit No. 4 on the iTunes chart. They also toured the country to support the album.

NBC’s other holiday event is Peter Pan Live, which debuts on Dec. 4.
