Thursday’s episode of The Big Bang Theory saw the gang getting ready go recreate their prom nights after Penny, Amy, and Bernadette come up with the idea to redo their awful prom dates, although Penny seems to have done well, considering she went to seven proms. We also saw some more of Howard’s feelings about how close Stewart is with his mother.
Each couple approached the prom in different ways. Leonard and Penny were mostly excited while Sheldon freaked out over the possibility of doing every prom tradition, including having sex. Plus, Howard faces an uncomfortable moment when Stewart invites his second cousin…who he apparently slept with when they were teenagers.
Full of laughter, romance, and surprising reveals, “The Prom Equivalency” was a great episode to showcase all of the couples and how they looked forward to prom night. 10. Gibbon
When the guys are in the cafeteria talking, Howard is asked about how he’s handling his mother’s close relationship with Stewart. Howard is having a rough time and Sheldon decides to make it worse by comparing him to a gibbon, a type of gorilla that isn’t classified like the other gorillas. When the point is brought up that the gibbon doesn’t know what he is classified as, Sheldon points out that Howard does have it wose.

9. Phone call
The phone call with Stewart and Howard was quite the laugh as Howard went overboard in thinking he was having an odd relationship with his mother. Bernadette had invited Stewart to the prom night and Howard thought that his mom would be his date. During the phone call, Stewart points out that he is bringing another date to prom night, leaving Howard to scold him for cheating on his mother.

8. Penny and Sheldon talk
The entire scene between Penny and Sheldon is so hilarious, especially as Sheldon tries to read Penny’s facial cues as she reacts to his declaration that they should get through the dance by pretending to be aliens. When the discussion gets into whether or not Sheldon may have sex with Amy, his words about his own desires seem to turn Penny on.

7. Howard’s cousin
We met Howard’s cousin, Jeannie, in this episode and as it turns out, the two had sex when they were younger. Howard reiterates they were second cousins and it’s funny to see that while she apparently has moved on from the experience, Howard thinks it’s weird that she is now Stewart’s date.

The idea for the prom mostly came from Bernadette and Amy, who did not have good prom experiences. Bernadette’s date only wanted her best friend and Amy’s date was a mop. Penny went to seven prom nights and while she isn’t too enthused with the prom idea, she eventually goes along with it.

5. Pictures
The end of the show featured the gang getting prom photos taken. Leonard and Penny seem to have better luck with theirs, even as Leonard stands on his tip toes to appear taller. Meanwhile, Amy looks at Sheldon with complete happiness but his eyes are closed mid-shot. Bernadette and Howard’s photo is ruined when Raj tells him to say ‘cousin’ and he growls at the camera. Stewart and Jeannie are about to get their photos done when he gets a call from Howard’s mother and begins to leave.

The entire limo fight was completely silly, with Emily and Raj watching the awkwardness between Howard and Jeannie, who wasn’t phased by the fact that they were in the same room. While Penny and Leonard are having a great time at the rooftop, we see Howard fighting with Stewart and yelling at him for going through his “family tree.”

The scene with Leonard and Sheldon getting ready for the prom is funny, especially when Leonard begins to ask him if he’s ready, much like a dad would to his son. Of course, the talk only serves to make Sheldon feel nervous.

Amy comes to see Sheldon to figure out why he isn’t coming to the prom. He begins going on about not wanting to do the prom traditions and Amy insists all she wanted to do was having a nice time with him. Just as she decides to tell him something and is telling Sheldon she doesn’t expect him to say it, Sheldon says the four words she’s been wanting to hear: “I love you, too.”

Leonard and Penny were so adorable in this episode, from them discussing whether they would have danced with one another during their high school prom, to Leonard admitting he sent his friends a bikini shot of her years earlier. They share a nice and romantic dance, enjoying the perfect moment.s
