Apples are one of the essential flavors of fall. This fruit tastes delicious alone or in salads, desserts or other dishes. Yet, one other ingredient can make it even sweeter: caramel.
For over 60 years, caramel apples have been enjoyed. According to Gold Medal Products Company, Kraft Foods worker Dan Walker experimented with left-over Halloween caramels in the 1950s which led him to the idea of dipping in an apple. Since then, people have loved this fruity treat.
The autumn months especially bring out this desire for certain foods. The Weather Channel reported that the apple harvest makes this fruit more delicious to consumers. Plus, it tastes delicious in a wide variety of dishes from meaty ones like pork chops to sweet ones like crisps.
Caramel dipping sauce for apples or having the apples on sticks already coated in caramel are the most common ways to combine these ingredients. However, there are dozens of other recipes for delicious desserts with both of these great foods. This list has 10 of the best ones although multiple others exist.
