Often on YouTube, hundreds to thousands of cover music fans of popular songs have posted videos. These up and coming artists profile their talent and cover popular songs that range from Maroon 5 to Michael Jackson but now a new trend is emerging when it comes to combining art and music. Sand animation features an artist performing live or recorded using only their hands, a light box, and sand to create intricate and complex art that moves with the music.

Many of the artists currently on the charts have had their music covered through this art form. Katy Perry’s huge hit “Dark Horse” has been created via this art form and the sand video features many of the same themes from the music video. This art form allows the artist to experiment while capturing the energy and passion behind the music that is inspiring their work.
