The Beatles are still the most popular band in the world, so calling any of their songs “obscure” is really silly. But, there are some classics buried on those 12 albums, several singles and compilations.
The Fab Four has come back into the public consciousness thanks to all these 50th anniversaries that came up this year. Back in February, we remembered the group’s first appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show. This past summer, we got to see their first movie, A Hard Day’s Night, back in theaters. We marked the release of their first U.S. album, Meet The Beatles!. In the U.K., fans also marked the 50th anniversary of Beatles For Sale, which featured tracks that wound up on different U.S. albums.
With all that in mind, it’s as good an excuse as any to look back on the group’s hidden work. These are the songs that you don’t hear on the radio, unless you listen to Beatle Brunch once a week on your local oldies station.
So, without any further delay, let’s take a detour on the Long And Winding Road that is the Beatles’ career.
