What’s there to do during Thanksgiving Day, other than cooking and family time? Watch TV, of course!

There’s plenty of TV programming happening this year on cable, along with some re-runs and holiday-themed specials. Obviously, there’s the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in the morning and football in the afternoon, but for those who’d rather find something else to watch (and don’t have Netflix), there are still many choices available. Besides, if you plan to do shopping on Black Friday, at least go in feeling good.

Among the things to watch, some programs include holiday specials on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving like A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving on ABC at 8:00 p.m, according to E Online. At the same time as that special, the CW is airing the film Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. A new Saturday Night Live special featuring Thanksgiving sketches will also be on NBC at 9:00 p.m for those looking for familiar and new laughs.

ABC 40 had a more extensive list of shows for the week, especially Thanksgiving Day. Other than Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on NBC, there’s another Thanksgiving Day Parade on CBS at the same time. From morning until night, there will be many Thanksgiving-themed episodes of old and newer shows including Roseanne on WE, Dora the Explorer for kids on Nickelodeon, and even The Cleveland Show on Cartoon Network. Specials that evening include an episode of The McCarthys on CBS and Thank You America with Robin Roberts on ABC.

Three football games will be played during the holiday. ABC 40 reported that the first football game of the day is the Chicago Bears vs. the Detroit Lions on CBS at 12:30 p.m. Fox will air the Philadelphia Eagles vs. the Dallas Cowboys at 4:30 p.m, and NBC will air the last game of the day at 8:30 p.m; the Seattle Seahawks vs. the San Francisco 49ers.

Small and large marathons will also dominate the airways on different channels. E Online reported that Cops will have a marathon on Spike, while reruns of Friends will air beginning at 9:30 p.m on Nickelodeon and the new Whose Line Is It Anyway will also have a nighttime marathon on the CW starting at 8:00 p.m.

ABC 40 also displayed many marathons happening during Thanksgiving Day. Kids may go for Cartoon Network’s marathons of Adventure Time from 9:00 a.m – 2:00 p.m, followed by The Amazing World of Gumball for the following six hours afterwards. Raising Hope, a sitcom that had aired on Fox, will have a marathon on CMT from noon until 8:00 p.m. Action junkies may also want to check out the marathon of Transporter: The Series on TNT, running from 11:00 a.m to 11:03 p.m. Foodies may grow hungrier for that Thanksgiving dinner upon watching Food Paradise on Travel Channel from 9:00 a.m to 6:00 p.m. Finally, with the recent release of the trailer for Jurassic World, AMC will air the original Jurassic Park from 10:00 a.m to 2:00 a.m Friday.

Give thanks this holiday, to friends, family, and TV.
