Zayn Malik was a no-show at One Direction’s Today Show appearance on Monday due to being sick at home with a stomach bug.
The band was on hand for the Orlando, Fla. taping to perform songs off their new album Four, but when Matt Lauer asked where Malik was, Liam Payne said he had a “tummy bug.”
“We only found out this morning so we’re really sad, he is as well, that he can’t be here for our album release… It’s still going to be a great day, I’m sure,” said Payne, USA Today reports.
Fans missed Malik so much that they got “#GetWellSoonZayn” trending on Twitter.
E! Online reports they played a mixture of old and new songs – like "Steal My Girl” – which featured Payne, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson and Harry Styles carrying on without their bandmate.
Styles said they’re “most proud” of their new album because Tomlinson explained they have "tried to make our music move with us a little bit, as we've gotten a little bit older and each album gets a little bit older."
