Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone - better known as The Lonely Island - announced its first slate of projects with Fox in their joint venture with the network, “Party Over Here.”
Development of these half-hour series will be the responsibility of The Spectacular Now producer Billy Rosenberg. Fox will handle distribution of the projects, which could air on Fox, FX, FXX, Fox International Channels and other networks.
Today, the two sides announced three projects, beginning with The Tyler Zone with Community star Danny Pudi. Written by music video director Keith Schofield, the sci-fi comedy stars Pudi as Tyler, who moves to a new town and is confronted with bizarre supernatural events.
Home For The Weekend is a mockumentary-style series hosted by Neal Brennan of Chappelle’s Show. It centers on a celebrity who returns to his hometown, only to find that a trip down memory lane is more interesting than anticipated. The Lonely Island team will appear in the first episode.
Lastly, Topics with Andre Hyland will feature the comedian’s characters meeting the public.
There’s no word on when any of these shows will air.
The Lonely Island is also looking to break into films, as Universal picked up their music-themed comedy. Obviously, "D**k in the Box" has taken them very far.
Samberg currently stars on Fox’s hit comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine, which earned him a Golden Globe this year.
