Atlanta Falcons head coach Mike Smith and Chicago Bears head coach Marc Trestman became the latest casualties of Black Monday when they received their walking papers after disappointing 2014 seasons.

ESPN reported that Falcons owner Arthur Blank announced Monday morning that Smith was let go after seven seasons with the team.

"Smitty's contributions to our club, team and city over the last seven years are numerous," Blank said. "His accomplishments on the field made him the most successful coach in the 49-year history of the Falcons and we are grateful for the foundation he has laid for us for the future."

The team made the playoffs four times under Smith, but ended with a sub .500 record the past two seasons.

NFL.com noted that coaching changes were being made in Chicago as well. After two years, Bears coach Marc Trestman is done as well as general manager Phil Emery, who was with the team for three years.

Chicago had a disastrous season with coordinators and players calling out quarterback Jay Cutler after he signed an extension worth around $126 million. Cutler threw for 18 interceptions and was benched in Week 16. The team finished with a 5-11 record and have not made the playoffs since 2010.

In addition to Smith, Trestman and Emery, New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan and general manager John Idzik were also fired and likely will not be the last by the end of the day.
