Famed supermodel Beverly Johnson came forward with her own shocking Bill Cosby story yesterday and has continued to tell her story.
In an interview with CNN, Johnson, the first African-American woman to be on the cover of American Vogue, explained what happened when she told entertainment insiders her story.
“The response was, 'Oh yeah, we know he has been doing that for quite a while.' It was like, everyone knew,’” Johnson told CNN’s New Day this morning. “But people like myself, I most certainly wouldn't have gone to Bill Cosby's brownstone if I knew the reputation he had with assaulting women.”
On Thursday, Johnson came forward in a Vanity Fair piece. She wrote that Cosby drugged her while she was auditioning for a role on The Cosby Show at his New York brownstone in the 1980s.
Johnson claims that Cosby told her to have a cup of cappuccino and she began to feel “a little woozy” after the first sip. “After that second sip, I knew I had been drugged. It was very powerful, it came on very quickly. The room started to spin. My speech was slurred,” she told CNN.
She tried to steady herself using Cosby’s shoulder and realized then that she was drugged. She asked him, “You are a motherf***er, aren’t you?” She said cursed him over and over again.
After that, her memory was hazy, but she does remember Cosby getting angry and grabbing her by the arm. He pulled her outside and called a cab for her.
Johnson told CNN that she only began sharing her story recently. At least 23 women have now alleged that Cosby raped and sexually assaulted them in the past.
“This, to me, is not about Bill Cosby. This, to me, is about violence against women," Johnson added. "What I want to see happen is that women come out and speak their truth."
