The Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced its nominees for the 72nd Golden Globe Awards, which will air live on NBC on Jan. 11. The organization got Kate Beckinsale, Peter Krause, Paula Patton and Jeremy Piven out of bed early to announce the nominees.

While the Golden Globes are very different from the Oscars, they can help keep a film’s momentum going deep into the awards season. It also proves which roles will stand out and are likely to be remembered into February.
