Iconic star Burt Reynolds is not broke, despite reports. The actor says that the upcoming auction of many of his beloved pieces of memorabilia is just a way to clean house.

After an upcoming Las Vegas auction of items from Reynolds’ career was announced, there was speculation that the Smokey and the Bandit star was broke. But in a statement to Entertainment Tonight, he assured fans that he isn’t struggling financially. He just has a divorce settlement and a financial dispute he’s dealing with. Plus, he was just tired of looking at pictures of himself.

“I want everyone to know that contrary to what all the news outlets are saying, I am not broke,” he said in a statement to the site. “I have been dealing with a business dispute for many years as well as a divorce settlement. I am simply selling some of my memorabilia that I have enjoyed for so many years but do not have use nor room for them anymore.”

Reynolds has been in a foreclosure fight with Bank of America for the past four years over his Jupiter, Florida mansion CBS12 reported in June. He has also filed for bankruptcy in the past.

The Vegas auction at The Palms next week will include Reynolds’ awards, including his Golden Globe for Boogie Nights. He’s also selling his Western shirt from smokey and the Bandit II and boots from Striptease. He is also selling a stagecoach he and his now ex-wife Loni Anderson rode in on their wedding day in 1988. That’s expected to sell for $20,000.

The auction is being handled by Julien’s Auctions.

According to Fox News, Reynolds is also auctioning off a 1978 Trans Am at an auction in Kissimmee, Florida next month.
