Since Sony’s plans to cancel the release of The Interview, Hollywood celebrities have been very vocal about the decision on social media.

TheCelebrityCafe.com reported that Sony Pictures canceled the film’s release after threats from hackers caused a scandal with the release of documents from the film company. The hackers, called the Guardians of Peace, eventually gave threats to theaters that would show the film, making many of them back off before Sony’s cancellation. U.S officials later claimed that North Korea was involved in the hack.

Celebrities wrote about their outrage on Twitter. “Really hard to believe this is a response to a threat to freedom of expression here in America,” wrote Ben Stiller.

“Sad day for creative expression,” posted Steve Carell.

Rob Lowe wrote two posts regarding the cancellation. One of them explained his outrage over the hackers’ victory, while the other regarded a meeting with Seth Rogen at an airport.

Patton Oswald tweeted two jokes about the cancellation of The Interview before writing a more serious post. “All joking aside, we just gave a comfy foothold to censorship & it doesn’t get any better from this point on,” he wrote.
