Charlie Sheen is getting a lump of coal for Christmas from FX and Lionsgate. The network and studio have decided that they will not keep Anger Management alive beyond its 100th episode.

The news was confirmed by Radar Online, which got a statement from Sheen himself.

“I am beyond proud of what we accomplished over the course of 100 episodes of Anger Management,” the former Two and a Half Men star said. “We created something uniquely special with some of the most talented individuals I have ever had the privilege to work with. My sincere thanks to all for their unwavering love and support. Here’s to the next chapter.”

Anger Management was based on the Adam Sandler/Jack Nicholson movie and was greenlit in the wake of Sheen’s dismissal from Men. FX widely publicized the series and secured a 10/90 deal for the show. That meant that if the first 10 episodes of the series hit particular ratings thresholds, a whopping 90 more episodes would be produced. This would guarantee that the series could live on in syndication.

While it certainly was a great deal for Lionsgate, it was a strange one for FX, which is known for airing edgy sitcoms that do not feature laugh tracks, like Louie and It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia.

The show also gained notoriety when Sheen started a feud with co-star Selma Blair, who was eventually fired.

Sheen will next be seen on The Goldbergs early next year. The last episode of Anger Management will air on Monday.
