The Voice just crowned Craig Wayne Boyd the winner of season seven but contestants from season past are holding their own with impressive careers.
Chris Mann was on The Voice back in season two and was a member of Team Christina. The opera singer impressed with his incredible range and ability to take classic songs and make the modern but in the end he did not win the competition, losing out to Jermaine Paul of Team Blake. However, Mann didn't miss a beat after the show, working on new albums and even releasing a Christmas album. Now, he is making the move to a famous Broadway show.
Mann is currently starring in The Phantom of the Opera. The show opened on Wednesday at the David A. Straz Jr. Center for the Performing Arts. The Global Dispatch spoke with Mann who opened up about what it was like to go through the process of being the Phantom.
"It was intense and yet, something I enjoyed,” said Mann. He said that he approached this character as “magician or hypnotist” explaining that his “torment and rejection plays to the audience and we can all relate to the longing to be accepted.”
TBO reported that Mann will be playing the role until January 4th. His run will include a special New Year’s Eve Masquerade Party.
Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera opened on Broadway back in 1988 and has become a classic.
